Every year, the Composition Program holds a 3-day conference during the Week of Welcome to gather our new and returning instructors for discussions and trainings on the core elements of our pedagogy.
2016 Composition Conference
Foregoing a central theme, our 2016 conference is all about questions, modeling the ways questions stimulate investigation, creation, and action, whether in the crafting on argument or the organizing of communities. The past couple years have been full of changes, and we’re beginning this year with an opportunity to reflect on our identities, as a program and as individual instructors. What goals do we share, program-wide? How do we each adapt them to our individual needs and the needs of our classes? What does it mean to teach written ethical inquiry in our current cultural, social, and political environments? And how do we go about doing that on a day-to-day basis? In all our conference sessions, our focus will be on discussion and reflection–on working together as a program to figure out who we are and what is important to us.
